An 87-year-old man became the oldest person ever to climb Mount Snowdon, only to be rescued on his way down.

John Llewellyn scaled the 3,560ft summit of the highest peak in England and Wales before being forced to call for help.

Mr Llewellyn has previously climbed mountains to raise money for cancer charities in memory of his father, and has tackled Snowdon, whose Welsh name is Yr Wyddfa, more than 20 times.
