Democrats will maintain control of at least 11 of the 15 districts targeted by GOP redistricting efforts and have flipped at least five of their redistricting targets away from Republicans.
So far, they’ve held on to four targeted seats in Texas, three in Florida, two in Ohio, and one each in Alabama and North Carolina. Meanwhile, Democrats have so far picked up four seats in California and one in Utah.
When Republicans, led by President Donald Trump, launched a historic mid-decade redistricting war last year, their goal was to protect their razor-thin majority in the House. Now, Democrats have taken back the House and the strategy seems to have backfired.
