Inside a fish and chip shop, a person wearing an orange shirt and a navy apron leans on the service counter beside a large framed portrait displayed on an easel. The painted portrait depicts a similarly dressed person. Stainless-steel work surfaces, food preparation equipment, and rows of soft drink cans are visible behind the counter.Image source, Coca-Cola GB/Nicky Philipps

A fish and chip shop owner has been immortalised by a royal portrait artist as part of an exhibition to honour the impact independent businesses have on their communities.

Pindy Kaur has been depicted by artist Nicky Philipps, who has previously painted members of the Royal Family, including the late Queen Elizabeth II in 2013, 2016 and 2018.
