Deep Purple have postponed two upcoming shows after frontman Ian Gillan was hospitalised due to a "medical emergency".

Gillan, 81, first joined the rock group in 1969 and is leading the current line-up, comprising Roger Glover, Ian Paice, Don Airey and Simon McBride.

Deep Purple, known for hits such as Smoke On The Water and Child In Time, are currently touring Germany as part of their Splat! World Tour.

The group announced the postponements in a message on X on Saturday, expressing their "deep disappointment".
