Seven members of a drug smuggling ring that hid 4.5 tonnes of cocaine inside wheels of cheese have been sentenced to prison.
According to police, the shrink-wrapped pallets of cheese contained drugs with a total street value exceeding £450 million. The illicit cargo was brought through Dover prior to being distributed throughout northern England.
On Friday, three individuals involved in the conspiracy were jailed at Leeds Crown Court, following the imprisonment of four co-defendants earlier in the week.
