Perched on a stool at a high-top table, his back against a window at the farthest recess of a very crowded room, Bill Farish wears a white ballcap, a vest over a blue-checked shirt and a pair of khakis. He rests his chin on his left hand and, every now and again, he casually raises his index finger.

To his right sits Cherie DeVaux, trainer of Golden Tempo, the 2026 Kentucky Derby and Belmont Stakes winner. To his left sits Terry Finley, president of West Point Thoroughbreds and part owner of Always Dreaming, the 2017 Derby winner.
