Jane Austen’s most famous line to be said on screen for first time

Jane Austen's "truth universally acknowledged" is one of her best-known quotes, but until now it has been universally ignored in screen adaptations of Pride and Prejudice.

That is about to change in Netflix's upcoming series based on the novel. For the first time in a film or television adaptation, the line will be spoken aloud by a character.

Olivia Colman, who plays Mrs Bennet in the series, delivers the words in a new trailer, appearing distressed as she utters the phrase.
